This open access journal publishes student articles arising from a taught final year MEng module, Recent Advances in Chemical Engineering, at the University of Huddersfield; student-derived articles from similar initiatives at other universities are also welcome. The journal also publishes book reviews written by chemical engineering students. Articles are designed to be of relevance to industry professionals wishing to obtain an overview of a subject area. A major feature of the articles is an emphasis on understanding what is distinctively “chemical engineering” about the advance, in order to elucidate the contributions that chemical engineers might make to this advance, and/or the ways in which the discipline and profession of chemical engineering might need to evolve in response to this advance. These aims serve to give a distinctive perspective on the interface between topical developments and the professional practice and academic discipline of chemical engineering.
